St Jude of the Lake Catholic Church received a donation to re-dedicate their gymnasium in memoriam to a former student. The project goals also included improving the existing gym aesthetics, lighting, audio, visual and acoustics, offering current students a state-of-the-art facility.
Thielen & Green provided architectural design services from schematic design through design development. The existing gym floors were replaced with a warmer wood plank with better support and durability, calling better attention to court lines and areas of play. New branding was added at center court and courtside at both ends. The existing lighting was replaced with brighter LEDs and better controls. Acoustical wall panels were added to the gym perimeter, flanked by new speakers and larger LCD screens. This project was delivered under an integrated approach with G5 Construction as the general contractor.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
