Riverdale Kidds Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics was presented with an opportunity to expand as vacancy within their medical office building increased. The expansion included restructuring the building common area, egress routes and absorbing three existing tenant suites.
Thielen & Green provided full scope architectural and interior design services from initial fit planning through construction administration. Programming includes remodeling the existing clinic with an expanding waiting room, reception and check-in desk, two new hygiene rooms, two new treatment rooms, category one surgery suite, recovery suite, clinical offices, and expanded sterilization. Programming also included a brand new orthodontics wing, with a separate reception area, waiting room, brushing stations, 6 open treatment bays, three treatment rooms, sterilization, offices, staff support, treatment coordinators, and full clinical support areas. The interior design continues the themed approach, but explores a refreshed cabin life and seasonal change focused on Minnesota. Vibrant colors and 3D props lead you through each department, changing seasons at each major corridor intersection. The orthodontics wing explores a more rustic approach to cabin life, with details aligned to the older demographic. This project was delivered under an integrated approach with Karkela Construction as the general contractor. MEP + fire protection engineering was design-build.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
