A local dental practice was looking to grow and couldn’t meet internal goals within their current tenant space. They needed to move. A building became available for purchase, which offered room for expansion, future tenants and a blank canvas to elevate clinical design standards.
Thielen & Green provided full scope architectural + interior design services from site assessment through construction administration under a design-build delivery with Karkela Construction. Programming includes a grand entry with wrap around waiting, reception and reappoint desk, 11 treatment rooms, 3 surgery rooms, sterilization with cart resupply corridor, lab, break/ training room, consult rooms, offices, medical gas closets, dental equipment and clinical support spaces. The scope of work also includes redesigning a new common corridor, common restrooms and future tenant space(s). The interior design is a modern array of neutral tones with strong contrast, simple massing and clean lines. Moments of wood tones, green walls and decorative lighting bring warmth in moments of transition, which consistently work through the clinical corridors. This project was delivered under an integrated approach with Karkela Construction as the general contractor, providing design-build MEP services starting at schematic design. The project schedule is set to open by the end of 2025.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
