Team Honey Badger was looking to expand their market presence and needed a design partner that could think outside of the box. The selected site was a triangle with various challenges, but offered great opportunity to solidify their foothold in the region.
Thielen & Green provided full scope design services from conceptual design through construction administration. Conceptual design documents were utilized to set early expectations for the design intent while determining the project’s overall feasibility and scale. Site planning, civil engineering and landscape architecture were provided by Westwood Professional Services. Programming included a shotgun-style commercial kitchen with exterior walk-in coolers, drive-thru and walk-up ordering windows. The design is a modern array of cultured stone, metal panels and fiber cement siding. Premanufactured awnings support the Domino’s brand identity with pops of color, with a darker accent framing it all in. The wood structure, designed by Sandman Structural Engineers, included panelized walls with pre-engineered wood trusses. This project was delivered under a design-build approach with MEP + fire protection engineering provided by Strack Construction as the general contractor under deferred submittals.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
