A local developer received such positive support and community interest with their Chestnut Business Park project in Chaska, they began working through plans to expand their network into new markets. Chestnut Park South is a 20-unit commercial warehouse specifically designed for small business and retail growth.
Thielen & Green provided full scope architectural services from schematic design through construction administration, under a design-build delivery with the general contractor. Site selection and civil engineering was provided direct by the developer, but coordinated as part of the design effort through entitlements. The program features 20 850 square foot units equipped with large storefront sections, restrooms, showers, utility sinks and accessory storage mezzanines for another 280 square feet of useable area. Each unit is designed to scale against the adjacent unit, for maximum flexibility on each tenant’s needs. The design carries forward the rustic Chestnut brand with masonry, fiber cement siding, EIFS and precast, offering a local aesthetic than blends into the greater community. The project schedule is set to start construction early spring of 2026 and complete late summer.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
