Compass Orthodontics started with a simple mission, to guide patients towards their healthiest, most confident smile with professional, personalized orthodontic care of the highest quality. The practice saw Medina as an ideal location due to its strong sense of community, high-quality schools and growing population seeking localized healthcare.
Thielen & Green provided conceptual design services to set early expectations for design, establishing the overall design intent to determine the project’s feasibility and scale. The existing wetlands, planned unit development standards and grading limitations required additional due diligence review. Programming includes a formal entry, waiting area, reception, consult rooms, imaging suite, six ortho bays, lab, sterilization, manager’s office, break room and various staff amenities. The design is a modern take on a Mediterranean aesthetic, with more localized materials on the exterior to fit the surrounding development. Large openings flood the clinical and waiting space with natural light. Pre-packaged awnings, exposed wood beams and dark storefronts provide some industrial design relief. The project is currently working through entitlements for a spring 2025 construction start. This project is being delivered under a design-build MEP + fire protection engineering approach with Heritage Construction Companies. Site selection was provided by Ryzo Commercial Realty.
This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
