Ray J’s American Grill was considering a third restaurant location and saw a development opportunity in Rogers, MN. Under the guidance of Tousley & Co, the team pursued a city owned lot that offered visibility, site amenities and future growth. Thielen & Green provided full-scope architectural services from conceptual design through construction administration. The site design includes the new restaurant as the anchor tenant, with a full-scale, tournament level outdoor pickleball court, outdoor patio and enhanced landscape. The project also includes a future pad site for a multi-tenant retail building and shared trash enclosure, with plenty of parking to support the dual use. The building design brings forward Ray J’s existing brand identity, but adds some local flavor with accents of brick, EIFS and wood. Programming includes a full-service bar, outdoor bar, outdoor patio, dining room, bar dining, performance stage, private dining room, golf simulator suite, pull tabs, host desk, lobby, restrooms, office, storage and commercial kitchen. The project is being delivered under an integrated approach with Dering Pierson Group as the general contractor, providing design-build MEP + fire protection services under separate submittals. The project schedule is positioned to break ground in the spring of 2025 and open in late fall/ early winter 2025.

This project utilized full BIM modeling for early design review, project coordination and clash detection, with a goal to limit field changes and expedite construction timelines.
